Ken Burkey

Ken has navigated a diverse life from the secular to the spiritual. From the marketplace to the nonprofit. From the numbing pain of loss to the euphoric high of discovering new life. From the baggage of religion to the freedom of forgiveness. From the local to the global. From the introverted discipline of writing to the extroverted lights of television. To the intimate and subtlety of poems to the inspiring, cheerleading of public speaking.

Ken was the Senior Pastor at Green Valley Community Church in Placerville, California for 23 years and has positioned his life to be an advocate to the poor – speaking, writing and traveling to inspire people towards justice and ending extreme poverty. His life has been motivated by Paul Hewson (a.k.a. Bono) and he is a follower of the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. His favorite book is “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” by Dr. Seuss and his favorite quote is “Preach the Gospel at all times, and when necessary, use words” by St. Francis of Assisi.
